Rüfüs Du Sol ignites night sky at ACL in last performance before break

Fireworks, laser shows and wicked beat drops made for a perfect closing act to the last Saturday of Austin City Limits Music Festival 2026. Australian EDM trio Rüfüs du Sol stole the show at the American Express stage with high energy, yet their performance felt surprisingly emotional. During their second song, “Lately,” lead singer Tyrone Lindqvist shouted, “This is our last show for the next two years…”

Formed in 2010, the band down under released their hit song “Innerbloom,” introducing them to the EDM music world. Known for their more authentic take on electronic music, the band combines Lindqvist’s vocals and guitar playing, Jon George’s analog and digital synthesizing, and James Hunt’s drumming to create their sound. Rüfüs Du Sol did more than create simple beat drops, they gave it their all.

Smoke filled the air as intense white lights flickered brightly, cameras followed the trio up the stairs and onto the stage, and screams and cheers echoed throughout the park. Wasting no time, Lindqvist dove straight into “Inhale,” a track off their fifth studio album.

“You give me my brighter days / Baby, we got brighter days to come,” Lindqvist sang.

Audience members danced to every song and felt every lyric. Like a spectacular house party, the band invited those of all ages to come and enjoy a night of eccentric music. Bubble blowing and balloon throwing throughout the audience added to the party-like atmosphere.

“You ready for a good night tonight?” Lindqvist said. “Let’s make this an extra special night because we’re not playing a show for a real long time.”

The trio ensured it was extra special, playing songs like it was their last — which they mentioned every couple of tracks. Smiling and laughing between songs, the band relished in their shining moment.

Leading into “In the Moment,” before the song switched momentum, green lasers illuminated the sky, seen from the opposite end of the park. An impressive addition to an already impressive show, the lasers added an extra element of excitement, although blinding at times.

Breathing sounds marked the introduction of “Innerbloom,” the audience screams echoing throughout the park. Screams turned into a sing-along as the audience joined in on the chorus.

“If you want me / If you need me / I’m yours,” festivalgoers sang.

Just as the beat dropped, fireworks shot from the top of the stage, showing festivalgoers how exhilarating EDM can be.

Closing with a fitting song, “Music Is Better,” the trio combined everything already exciting about their set. Lindqvist ran down the stairs to sing to the audience and held hands with those closest to him. In what felt like an interpersonal moment, the band threw their drum sticks and towels to the audience while sparklers flew from the top of the stage, closing out the biggest party at ACL.
